If you’re visiting the Soča River Valley, chances are you’re looking for an adventure. Many of the tourists are seeking a relaxing and exciting time, some of them in the company of their friends or family, others on their own. The tourist offer of the valley accommodates all kinds of tourists, with some activities more suitable for solo adventurists than others.
Some of the adrenaline activities are hard to do on your own. Soča rafting is usually done in groups, even though you can rent a mini raft intended for four or two persons. It’s quite common to see rafters in pairs, although Soča rafting is probably not a very good idea if you prefer being alone. Kayaking, on the other hand, is perfect for that. Like Soča rafting, kayaking also offers different experiences, in groups as well as solo. The difference is that kayak only sits a single person and is thus very convenient to guide down the river on your own. Just make sure you know what you’re doing – solo kayaking on the Soča River is only suitable for experienced kayakers that know their limits and the specifics of the river.
Another interesting activity for solo travelers can be canyoning. Soca River is rich in deep and narrow canyons, especially with all the tributaries flowing towards the river. There’s ample chance to explore them on your own, even though for canyoning, Soca River also offers guided tours and group expeditions. The adventure can indeed be carried out solo, but it’s advisable to take a guide with you if you don’t know the surroundings. For canyoning, Soca River is not the best choice, but the surrounding streams offer much more excitement – unfortunately, they are also less known and easier to get lost in, making them a bit inconvenient for solo exploration.
